This week we are looking at Mark 7:1-13, which is a passage about authority. Jesus reminds us that although we all have authorities in our lives, we have a tendency to try to use our authority for mercenary gain. In this passage, Jesus reminds us that even as followers of God, we may try to manipulate the Scriptures but that doing so is a heart issue. What we discover is that as followers of God, the Scriptures are our highest authority because they point us to Jesus, who came to heal the heart.
