Ephesians 2:11-22 looks at how we as followers of Jesus are united in Christ, but being united with people is not easy. Each of us sins and falls short of the glory of God. When we experience the sins of others, our temptation is to put up dividing lines that tell us who is worthy and who is unworthy of dignity and respect. However, in Christ, we are reminded that every person is offered dignity and respect – that through the cross, Jesus has leveled the playing field and while no one loved God, God loved us. Through the cross, we are all offered the peace, dignity, and respect of God.
