Patience is lauded as a Christian virtue. However, patience in itself is only useful if one is being patient for a purpose. In James 5:7-11 we learn that followers of God are to live their lives actively in the knowledge that Jesus will return and when he does we will all face Him. And while we are saved by grace through the sacrifice of Jesus, we like Job might find that we have forgotten this and judged our neighbor and God harshly and must refocus our gaze on His mercy and justice.
