Summer in the Psalms

Did you know that in the New Testament, the Psalms are quoted more than any other book from the Old Testament? Jesus often quoted from the Psalms and even appears to have been meditating on the 22nd Psalm as he hung on the cross. The Psalms are unique—a collection of one hundred and fifty prayers that run the length and breadth of human experience. From joy to rage. From confidence to desperation. The Psalms are the prayer book of the Bible, a mini-Bible within the whole. They are both prophetic and pragmatic. They prophetically foreshadow the suffering and ultimately victorious Messiah, while also pragmatically giving voice to our cries for relief and redemption. We don’t so much pray the psalms as much as they pray us! Join us as we spend the first half of our summer in the Psalms.
