Checkup: Examining the Body of Christ
In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul often uses the metaphor of a body to describe the church. We are individuals, but as followers of Jesus, we are united in the Body of Christ. The Church is more than an organization; it's more than a building or a set of programs. As Paul describes it, the Church is a living body with Christ as its head. Over the next three Sundays, we will look at three passages that describe the health, unity, and calling of the church as the Body of Christ. This series will be similar to a checkup, providing a diagnostic evaluation of who we are and how we are doing. Like any checkup, it may at times be encouraging and at other times uncomfortable. However, the health of the church is ultimately rooted in the message of hope that the church is built upon. Jesus is the great physician who came not for the healthy, but for the sick.
